New treasury sign in
I tried signing in using my ID.me account I set up for SSA. It didn’t recognize my email or password, and I wasn’t sent to any reverification page . I tried so many times that I was locked out. They sent me a code at the same email to unlock it. My husband has an ID.me set up with the IRS and that didn’t work either. I don’t know if it is because we both use the same email or that I opted out of cookies. I was able to log in the old way. My concern is getting our tax forms. What should I do the Treasury site and ID.me were of no help? Thanks Ann

Whew. You’ve made your life complicated. First of all, there are much higher security provisions for using ID.me to get your TreasuryDirect info than for Social Security. Don’t ask me why.
So first, get your ID.me password correct. Try to log in to ID.me — and if you can’t get in, then click on forgot password and reset it.
Then, start at TreasuryDirect, and click on the “SEcure log-in” button. That will take you to the ID.me account that exists using the SAME email as the one on your TreasuryDirect account. And you need to use that same SS number, as well.
Then they will make you verify your identity, so do it using your iPhone because they will ask you to take a picture of your drivers license, and then use your phone camera to scan your face.
Yes, it’s complicated. But take it step-by-step, because although they say they will mail interest statements for tax purposes, you really should know how to access your account. IN a few weeks your old log-in will not work.
And yes, this is complicated. But go slowly.
