Ask Terry Questions Old Student Loans

Old Student Loans

By Terry Savage on June 29, 2022 | College Savings / Student Loans

I have about $5,000 left on my student loans and I’m retired from the Community College system, SURS. Worked 21 years, I’m 57, sometimes full-time, sometimes part time. Any way of getting this loan forgiven? I called Navient, my lender, and they said no but everything is changing daily. Thank you.

Well they don’t tell you everything! Contact Rae Kaplan at 312-294-8989. She’s the student loan debt expert. If you worked all that time in a public service job, the same system, then there may be a way of getting the balance forgiven.
