Options for health insurance
I am at full retirement age but am still employed in a role I enjoy. My great BCBS policy is being replaced with a UHC policy and I anticipate the benefits will not be as good. I would like to meet with an insurance expert to look at possible options for the next few years. Can you recommend some good consultants who I could speak with about my options? I would like an unbiased and educated opinion! I am in the western suburbs. Thanks.

Well, I’m assuming that you mean you have reached age 67, but still working. Have you asked if your employer’s policy will require those who are Medicare eligible (age 65) to sign up for Medicare as a primary payer? That may happen in your case.
Next, assuming that is not a requirement, you need to know exactly what your employer’s plan will cover, and the cost.
Then you can compare to Medicare Part B (A is free) and a Plan G supplement and Part D drug plan.
I’d suggest you contact either ehealth.com or boomerbenefits.com and ask them to show you the total costs and premiums for the above. You do NOT want an Advantage plan, which can restrict your access to doctors and hospitals. You DO want traditional Medicare and a supplement and a drug plan (even though you currently don’t take any prescription drugs).
Only then can you compare coverage and costs between your employer’s new plan and the Medicare option.
