Pua breach and credit monitoring offer

By Terry Savage on May 29, 2020 | Wild Card

Applied regular unemployment, denied, applied pua may 12 ,still waiting. Now the breach, got an email for a 1 yr free credit watch by Experian. The joke to me is it doesnt start til August 20! 3months later, not surprised the way IDES has handled this whole thing. Is it worth signing up for? Thank you

Sure it’s worth signing up for — but that date is amazing! How idiotic — but no surprise.
I suggest you also call each of the three credit bureaus (phone numbers in the resources on my home page) Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax — and put a freeze on your account. That means no one can open up NEW credit in your name. Also, check your bank and credit card accounts online at least weekly to make sure there are no unauthorized charges.
This was a “mistake” but not actually a documented intrusion. And it was caught early. So likely there won’t be any consequences.
