Seeking financial organization help for my daughter.
Please tell me if there is a way to get free or low cost financial advice for my daughter. She is in her mid thirties and has suffered through a divorce and an illness layoff from work that has put her in a bad financial situation. Money savvy family members have tried to help her in the past but somehow she remains in poor financial shape. I’m hoping that a person from outside our family can help to convince my daughter to make the financial healthy changes she needs to get out of her terrible financial situation.

Sometimes it’s hard to hear it from family. Have her call 800-2388-2227. That will connect her to the nearest local office of the non-profit National Foundation for Credit Counseling. She should make an in-person visit — those counseling is available over the phone. But in this case, she needs to sit down with a counselor and develop a relationship. This is the perfect place to do that.
