Should I take advantage of Identiy Monitoring Services after learning of a data breach to my financial account ?
Greetings Terry. I recently received a letter from one of my financial services firms that my account information had been breached. (It happened last summer and they are just now informing me) The financial firm offered me Identity monitoring for one year from the firm Kroll Identity Monitoring. I am not familiar with this firm but my best due diligence shows that the are legit. However, I am still wary of engaging with an entity regarding my personal information with whom I am unfamiliar. Your thoughts on how to proceed are greatly appreciated. Thank You !

Read this article and FREEZE all your credit reports — after you read them! Make sure no one has opened new credit in your name. After the freeze they won’t be able to. Remember your PIN!
It can’t hurt to take advantage of the free credit monitoring as well. They scan the “dark web” for use of your name and SS number.
