social security

My wife opted to do social security early ( 62 in 2011) AND WAS PAID A SMALL AMOUNT.
sHE IS NOW IN HER 70’S AND WAS TOLD THAT SHE CAN REAPPLY AND GET 75% OF MY ss INSTEAD. iS THAT TRUE?

Terry Says

Only partly true. She can get half (50%) of your benefits at your full retirement age, but her benefit will be reduced because she took her own benefit early. That assumes that the above formula gives her more than her own earned benefit.
