Social Security benefits
Spouse of 43 years passed away in 2019 age 73, collecting approximately $120 a month on Social Security because he was a Chicago police officer collecting his pension. I am curious if I am entitled to anything that he was cheated out of during Rostenkowski’s term. I currently collect my S.S. of 631.00 monthly. I kept my S.S. after his passing because I believe I was told that he would make 1.00 , maybe 2.00 more than I, should his S.S. been fulfilled. I didn’t change any thing. Thank you in advance for any insight, Sincerely,

OK, it’s possible now that the Fairness Act has passed that your SPOUSAL benefit could be larger than your own. It’s a real hassle to get through to SS. Instead, I suggest going to https://maximizemysocialsecurity.com/
There you can securely input both your SS info and his info. Then you will learn what his unreduced benefit would be to you — assuming he also earned a SS benefit.
The cost for this service is $49 — but it is well worth it, because then you can contact SS with the correct benefit info, and demand the higher benefit!
