state of illinois rejected my h & r block filing- reason agi from 2020

By Terry Savage on April 04, 2022 | Wild Card

The state of Illinois rejected my 2021 tax filing. I have contacted them twice by phone-they say if you got unemployment in 2020 subtract the 10,200 (the amount that was made non taxable) from your agi in 2020. They said this figure is used for identification purposes only. They can not give the corrected amount to me. And I can not find a way to change the 2020 agi on the 2021 state taxes. It seems like a lot of people are contacting the state- can you help figure this out.

Could you please write back and explain the problem a bit more clearly.
You filed your 2020 return last year. If you didn’t deduct the tax you paid on the first $10,200 of unemployment benefits, the state should have sent you a refund.
What does that have to do with your 2021 return that you are now filing?
Did you collect unemployment in 2021?
I’m not sure what you think caused your 2021 return to be rejected.
