It could take a few weeks for that to happen, since they are starting with direct deposit first. I am just wondering whether the currency exchange takes a fee for “cashing” your Social Security check? It probably does. Why don’t you check with a big bank in your area like Chase or FifthThird or FirstAmerican. Most of them have free checking for seniors who have direct deposit for Social Security checks. And they give you a debit card so you can pay for purchases without any fees; the money comes right out of your free checking account.
Walk in and ask about it. And if you have a problem, write me back. It’s too late to help with your next stimulus check. But I bet I can save you a LOT of money every month in currency exchange fees!
