Ask Terry Questions Stimulus Checks

Stimulus Checks

By Terry Savage on January 18, 2021 | Wild Card

Sorry if you’ve already answered this but I didn’t see an answer on your page. Our daughter turned 18 on April 14, 2020. We had filed taxes prior to then. We still claim her (and our 16 year old son) as a dependent. We recently received a total of $1,800 in stimulus money. We assume that $600 was for me, $600 for my wife and $600 for….? Does one check cover both kids or should it have been $600 for our daughter and $0 for our son? Or vice versa? Signed, Confused in Naperville. Thx!!

Terry Says

Once your daughter is over 17 she doesn’t qualify for a stimulus check. So you, your husband, and your son each qualified for the $600 stimulus. This time around kids are worth $600!
