Student Loan Forgiveness — but I paid my loans!

By Terry Savage on August 27, 2022 | College Savings / Student Loans

I graduated college in 2019. Over the past three years, I worked hard and prioritized saving money so I could pay off my $11k in student debt during the forbearance period. I successfully did so in 2021 via a lump-sum payment. With Biden’s announcement of loan forgiveness, do I have any options for refunding this amount?

Terry Says

Nope. And that’s part of the “fairness” argument: People who did the right thing and scrimped to pay off their loans are not getting in on this deal. But they are paying for it in their taxes!!
