Student loans — daughter fraudulently obtained
Hello – I watched your report this morning regarding student loan repayment. My daughter obtained student loans without my knowledge in my name. My credit report shows my rating is plummeting due the the fact she is not making her payments. I contacted the servicer provided in the notice sent to me and they said they couldn’t assist me and my daughter should contact them directly. I’m 70 years old collecting social security. Don’t know what to do at this point. My daughter is avoiding my calls. Can you offer any suggestions? Thanks.

Wow! This is horrendous. It is actually a case of identity theft. Are you willing to report your daughter to the FBI? If so, call 1-800-CALL FBI.
I would also contact your local police station and report identity theft. She must have forged your name at the time she took out the loan.
The fact that is is your daughter makes no difference. She is willing to let you flounder and so you must take action against her.
BUT, you can be sure that any minute your Social Security check will be cut! SO, I will work with you to contact the loan servicer after you file both the police and FBI reports. That is the only way they will listen — and I’ll go through the media department and explain that a TV station is interested in this.
Sometimes this can break through the red tape.
