Un-enroll from Medicare
Yes, I was very dumb.
Just b4 i turned 65 in Oct I checked out the Medicare website. I marked boxes that I had and will continue to have insurance through my employer. Still was signed up.
I filled out proper form and returned my card. The process date was Nov 7.
I just received a bill for 3 months. I called Medicare and was told I only had to pay for 2 months, as it specified through Dec 31.
Will they come after me for 3 months?
Do I have to pay at all?
They also told me this happens often, as they don’t check the answers, just assume you are filing for Medicare. Kind of a cash cow for idiots.

I don’t know how that happened, but if you will continue to have employer-provided insurance you can definitely dis-enroll. To disenroll from Medicare Part B, you need to submit Form CMS-1763 to the Social Security Administration (SSA) and return your Medicare card. You can get that form from the SSA.gov website.
But if you’re about to retire in a few months, I wouldn’t bother going through the process. Changing things at SS always creates a mess. Oh, and one thing to remember. You can no longer contribute to a Health Savings Account at work, since you’ll still be enrolled in Medicare Part A (which is free).
