Unemployment extension

By Terry Savage on July 12, 2020 | Wild Card

Hi Terry,
My 26 weeks of unemployment benefits are due to expire the second week of August. Do you have any information as to how I would need to go about filing for the 13 week PEUC extension. Do I just continue to certify or is their some kind of paperwork I would need file. This is the only information I could find on the IDES web site, “If an individual has exhausted benefits and is no longer certifying, IDES will determine eligibility, notify the claimant, and automatically enroll the claimant in PEUC”. This statement seems a little ambiguous. Thank you in advance.

The automatic extension of your basic benefits will happen without application. but, as of he end of July, you will no longer receive the extra $600/week in Federal benefits — unless Congress votes soon to extend them.
