Unemployment fraud
We listen to your “talks” on WGN all the time. They are great. You have mentioned the issue of fraudulent claims for unemployment monies several times. This morning a received a text seeking verification of my claim. I’m retired and have never filed. How did I report, given the department’s unenviable record of communicating. I haven’t opened the text. It does list a phone number as the sending party.. Thank you.

To besmart, you should do most of the things in this article — including checking your credit report, freezing your credit, and making a report of fraud on the IDES website. But since you didn’t open the text or respond in any way, it will probably stop right there. Don’t yield to the temptation to click!!
