WEP
My spouse who is currently receiving a pension from being a firefighter still has not received his WEP. We are both collecting our Social Secutity. I was an independent contractor for @ 20 years and then worked another 20 years working as a State employee, just to give you background. Does spouse not qualify for WEP?

Has your spouse already applied for SS, and is he currently receiving a reduced benefit because of the WEP?
If he hasn’t applied, he should do so now — if eligible. His benefit will not be reduced. But he will not receive the “back pay” for 2024, since he is just applying.
If indeed he is already receiving a reduced benefit, and the upgrade doesn’t come in his next deposit, he should create a “mySocialSecurity” account online to see where things stand.
It’s like waiting for your luggage at the carousel when you land from a plane trip. They all came on the same plane, but someone’s suitcase has to be last! You just hope yours didn’t miss the plane!!
So if it doesn’t come in the next month, call SS and make an appointment — it will take a while.
