WGN question on Savings

By Terry Savage on December 31, 2022 | College Savings / Student Loans

Hello Terri Savage
I just saw you on WGN News, I know you stated that we should save. I do not have credit cards bills, thanks to your previous advice. But I do have two cars in my name. One for me and one for my son, who is paying the car note. I have a small savings of $25,000. Should I just save the money as you stated. Or should I pay off his car and he can pay me?
Also, my daughter have a student in the amount of $70,000. Who is the best company to refinance with, a credit union? Discover has high interests rates.

Terry Says

I’m glad you don’t have any credit card bills!
Let your son continue to pay off the car loan — but make sure he is paying on time or it will ding YOUR credit.

Ask your daughter to contact Rae Kaplan, student loan expert at FinancialRelief.com. She can give you the best advice about refiancing student loans.
Since these are private loans, not Federal, she is still paying on them. Now is the time to see if she can get a better deal.

If she wants to do it herself, she should go to SoFI.com. or Credible.com.
