wgn radio re banks vs post offices!

By Terry Savage on April 19, 2021 | Wild Card

Ms Savage: Your interview – discussion on WGN Radio this Tuesday 13 April 2021 on Post Office vs Banks interested me, so I did quick, simple Google Map Search of Englewood. (Englewood, because that is where I was born many, many years ago.) Anyway:
There is 1 US Post Office in the Englewood Community – and its not centrally located. There are 3 Branch Banks and dozens of ATMs throughout the Community. SO: . .?
Sometimes I wonder if folks who maybe have good intentions push strange ideas? Are they just ignorant or just looking for an issue to get publicity? In this case, did anyone ask anyone in the Community what they would want OR do they just think they know better? AND: why does the News Media publish without doing a simple fact check?

Thanks for your comments. I wish I had the facts — but the one thing I was sure of was that there are plenty of free checking
account offerings in Chicago. Read my latest column! And I was equally sure that if you’re looking for efficiency, you don’t want the post office to be your bank!
I respect the hard working postal workers — but the system simply can’t manage itself financially these days — and no reason for them to take on banking, which already has the infrastructure. All we need is to educate people that the banking system is safe, inexpensive, and far better than the alternatives!
