I’m not quite sure about this situation. Is she on SSDI? If you receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), you become eligible for Medicare after a 24-month waiting period from the start of your disability benefits. Once you qualify for Medicare, you can enroll in Part D prescription drug coverage, which helps pay for brand-name and generic medications.
But in Part D, not all medications are covered. Does she have a special arrangement with the manufacturer? In that case, contact them and see how they coordinate with Part D (if that’s what she is on).
But if she is a dependent on her mother’s work insurance, then the mother should ask the HR department for help in dealing with the letter she received.
