Credit card
My Savings and Loan offered a credit card to me. I have never activated the cards. Will it hurt my credit if I close them or just shred them. If I close why would this hurt my credit. Thank you

Well, just because they “offered” you a card doesn’t mean it is active. You had to sign a credit card agreement. And you would most likely be paying an annual fee on that card.
Just check your credit report at www.AnnualCreditReport.com, where you are entitle to one FREE report from each of the three bureaus every year. If it’s on one, it will be on the others. If that card doesn’t show up, then don’t worry.
If it does show up as unused, you can feel free to cancel it. The only reason to keep old, but unused cards, is to demonstrate longevity of credit history. As long as you have other, older cards, there is no reason to keep this one.
