Social Security Benefits at 70
I will be turning 70 years old at the end of May. I am currently receiving Social Security spousal benefits at half my wife’s Social Security. I want to know when I should claim my own benefits. Should I apply on my birthday or 30 or 60 days before my 70th birthday.
Terry Says
Do not claim even one minute before your 70th birthday. And make sure you get exactly what you’re entitled to. I highly recommend you go to www.MaximizeMySocialSecurity.com and pay the $39 to make sure SS doesn’t give you a wrong number!
And I’m assuming that your FULL, DELAYED benefits will amount to more than half your wife’s benefit. The software will walk you through that possibility.
