Ask Terry Questions credit card debt

credit card debt

Good Morning! My question is about credit card debt. I owe about 10,000 in credit card debit. Should I take out a personal loan and payoff the debit?

That’s just digging yourself into a deeper hole. I’ll give you two suggestions:

  1. Call the National Foundation for Credit Counseling at 800-388-2227 to be connectedto the nearest local office.  It’s free (or minimal cost) and doesn’t go on your credit report if you just get help re-arranging your budget.
  2. Write down the CURRENT minimum monthly payment.  Pay twice that amount.  Pay that exact same amount every month.  Don’t charge another penny.  Your balance will be paid off in less than 3 years — vs nearly 30 if you just keep paying the minimums. You can do it!!
