Ask Terry Questions Adding grandson to credit card

Adding grandson to credit card

By Terry Savage on February 15, 2022 | Credit/Debt

If I add my 16 year old grandson to a credit card would that get him a jump start on his credit score? I have a score over 830.

Terry Says

Don’t do that!! It won’t help his credit and it could destroy yours! When the time comes that he has a job, or is away at college, he can get his own student credit card, with a credit limit based on a deposit in a bank. Read this article from Bankrate.com showing how they work and how to find one.
