closing credit cards that a with $0 balance

Is it a good idea to close a credit card after paying in full?

Terry Says

Sure — as long as it’s not your OLDEST card (which demonstrates longevity of credit history). Ask the company to report it closed at the request of the holder. Then get your credit report in a month or two (free at www.AnnualCreditReport.com) and make sure it is done.
