Ask Terry Questions Credit card

Credit card

By Terry Savage on July 20, 2022 | Credit/Debt

My daughter is 21, second year in college. My husband and I think she should get a credit card. With a small limit. What is the best card for a college student?

Terry Says

You’ll want to start with a “secured card” — that has a credit limit in the amount you deposit into the issuing bank with a saving account. Then as she uses it frequently — and pays it off on time! — she will start building her own credit history. Then she will be offered traditional cards.
