Ask Terry Questions Credit card debt

Credit card debt

By Terry Savage on June 27, 2020 | Credit/Debt

Hi! I have a family member with roughly $20,000 in credit card debt. What is the best way to pay this off without being burdened by finance charges and using a home loan?

Terry Says

The best way is to work extra hours, or figure out a way to make more money. Then the ‘secret formula’ is to write down the CURRENT minimum monthly payment amount. Pay DOUBLE that SAME amount (not the new monthly minimum) every single month. If you don’t charge another penny on card, it will be paid off in less than 3 years.

that works no matter what the balance, or the rate. But you must stick to the plan, paying double that original minimum!
Anything else is just digging a deeper hole!
