Can you recommend a reputable and accredited credit counselor near Des Plaines,IL. I’m struggling with credit card debt and need help putting together a budget, discussing whether or not to refinance, etc. I’m at the end of my rope and at my wits end. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Contact the National Foundation for Credit Counseling at 800-388-2227. That will automatically put you in touch with the nearest local member agency. You can trust them. It can be done over the phone, but I suggest making an appointment and going in. Organize your paperwork — list all your debts, bring your latest bills, and be ready to show them your income. They will help you make a plan to pay down your debt– or recommend bankruptcy, if necessary.
