Ask Terry Questions How to freeze credit scores

How to freeze credit scores

By Terry Savage on April 03, 2020 | Credit/Debt

How do we freeze our credit ratings as to protect ourselves from identity theft/scams. Afraid to google it!

Terry Says

First go online to www.AnnualCreditReport.com to get your totally FREE credit report from each of the three bureaus. Then you will have the contact info and website of each of the three bureaus. Contact each individually to freeze your credit. That means no one can open new credit in your name. But you should still check your credit report from one of the bureaus every 6 months, starting next year, to see what’s going on.
And they will give you a PIN to “unfreeze” the report if you do find you are applying for new credit, or buying a car, or life insurance, for example.
